SCENARIO A

The project team is on the daily standup.

Pam, the project manager, shows up on time, but needs a minute to get her screen share going.

Then, another minute to pull up the Jira.

Then, another minute to find the Jira project that this standup is for.

Pam: “Ok, ready! Who wants to go first?”

*crickets

Pam: “Dave (the developer) how about you?”

Dave: “I worked on card 215 and 216. Later today I am meeting with you and the BA to discuss the requirements on card 230.”

*long silence. No notes taken. No cards moved.

Pam: “Ok thanks! Who’s next?….”

😩

SCENARIO B

The project team is on the daily standup.

Pippa, the project manager, was 2min early, and had the Jira board up on the screen.

Pippa: “It’s now 10am. I will ping Devin (the developer) to see if she is joining.”

Pippa: “Ok she’s on her way…there she is! Let’s get started. ALL - we have 4 days left in this sprint and we are tracking well. It is imperative that our dev team completes their unit tests today so we can have our analysts begin their QA. So, Devin, where are we at with your 3 cards that I have highlighted on the board?”

Devin: “Unit tests are completed for cards 215 and 216. Later today I am meeting with you and the BA to discuss the requirements on card 230.”

Pippa: “I have moved cards 215 and 216 to the QA column, and updated the comments that UT has been completed. Devin, please ensure you are commenting and updating statuses on these cards prior to this call. Noted for card 230, and I see your questions in the comments about the reqs, thank you for that.”
