💃 The Street is Expecting Big Things From Salesforce in 2024🕺

Plus- Marc Gives Away a Slice of Hawaii, Commissions are Hard, and More!

Good morning, Salesforce Nerds! Salesforce is ending 2023 on The Street’s wishlists after a dominant financial performance and healthy outlook. Spring ‘24 release notes are beginning to flow in from the community. And Marc is giving away Earth’s most finite resource - land!

Salesforce Icebreaker

Marc Benioff is donating 282 acres of prime Hawaii real estate 🤩. And the most wholesome part - it’s intended for low and moderate-income housing.

From the press release-

The project is intended for self-help housing, turnkey single-family-for-sale housing and potentially low-rise multifamily housing. It will include other facilities such as parks, community spaces and open space.

Development will begin with an initial 43-unit Self Help Affordable Housing project at Ouli. The gift from the Benioffs also includes an additional $7 million to facilitate site planning and infrastructure development.

Pretty impressive that anyone has that much Hawaiian land to begin with, let alone to donate 👀.

A very generous contribution by Marc and his wife Lynne.

The haters will say he is a land baron, a tax-hedging billionaire, and other undesirable things, but which of these haters is putting their money where their mouth is 🤑?

Salesforce Community

The top-rated Reddit post of the week was aimed at Salesforce’s scheduled 9% price increases 📈. Interesting because it seemed Salesforce did a decent job of setting this expectation back in the summer? 🤷

Spring ‘24 Release Notes are starting to roll in from the community. Patiently waiting for the SFXD’s notes, but there’s some good ones already out-

WILLY NILLY

Salesforce Potpourri

This is not a new take. History has proven that there is someone in their parent’s garage cooking up an unstoppable force to a seemingly immovable object.

Greg Isenberg is predicting a Costco-version of Salesforce will be the disruptor. For most, a Figma-version may be more desirable...

The design is secondary to the idea that a future disruption is inevitable. It may not torpedo Salesforce, just like Salesforce did not cripple Microsoft Dynamics; and Figma has not yet destroyed Adobe (but they’re back in position to do so!).

But there's probably some 19yo kid in their bedroom at their parent’s house laying down the framework for what could become the next big CRM!

Old news, but taking a different perspective - commissions is HARD! 🥵

Why?

Sure- the crazy weighted schedules, escalators, exceptions, and one-offs are complex and difficult to operationalize and build in CRMs.

But the real challenge is commission structures change. All. The. $#^% 🤬. Time. Sales leaders need to incentivize their teams, and what worked last year, or even last quarter, does not necessarily work the next.

At it’s core, the business process and data requirements for managing commissions goes beyond technology and the CRM.

Salesforce has Opportunity Splits but they’re smart to acquire a solution that can solve for whatever additional percentage of commission scenarios are out there. It’s easy to imagine commission solutions are oft-requested by Salesforce customers 💯.

The Street is bullish on Salesforce. Morgan Stanley analysts believe Salesforce’s positioning of Data Cloud and AI solutions will drive big gains in 2024. With a target price of $350 per share (currently trading a shade above $250), the street is expecting big things from your favorite CRM company!
