With Special Guest - Hanlon's Razor

Life and its various passages can be hard, brutally hard. The three things I have found helpful in coping with its challenges are: Have low expectations. Have a sense of humor. Surround yourself with the love of friends and family.

Good morning, Salesforce Nerds! The Salesforce community is one of the most friendly and helpful (and funniest 🙄) group of professionals out there 😊.

Or at least that’s what they want you to believe 👀.

Underneath that twinkle and sheen is a dark and sinister underworld.

👿

Just kidding.

More like - people have good days and bad days, and their social media posts, alone, are not a sufficient means to judge a person 😇.

With that disclaimer, let’s take a peek 🫣 at some rare Salesforce community excitement!

Agenda for today includes

  • hold my beer 🍺

  • Daily Principle

  • All the Memes

Mike Wheeler - in his words - wants to help you find your path, help you to provide, help you do work that matters, and help you become a creator in a consumption world.

Mike is the founder of a Salesforce training company with his namesake.

He also has a documented history of responding to criticism, and then deleting his responses.

(Note that he has documented success stories that are just as easy to find as the criticisms)

In this most recent heartfelt discussion, Mike-

1) Posted on Linkedin, that Flows will eventually/inevitably/maybe 🤷 be generated through AI prompts.

The vibe of the post was that Flows will become significantly “easier” with the advent of generative-AI 🤖.

Unfortunately, the post and comments were soon deleted…

2) Received other perspectives, backed by insights.

Comments from well known Salesforce community members and less famous - but just as amazing - Salesforce professionals.

The general vibe from commenters was that a human touch is needed for validation of the Flow, so AI-led Flow creation is a long ways off.

3) Publicly responded to one commenter, telling them to “calm down.”

Then DM’d said commenter, with the header “Chill.”

4) Doubled down

Continued to respond to commenters.

He added that he would make a video to give his perspective on the AI-bound future of Flow.

He made good on the video, then quickly deleted it.

He made a follow up Linkedin post, then deleted it.

This Twitter user took a few screenshots of the original deleted Linkedin thread-

TAG ME NOT, OR YOU SHALL BE FORSAKEN

The long Thanksgiving weekend produced not one, but TWO popcorn-noshing events…

Have you ever posted on social media, and tagged someone that doesn’t know you? What was your intent?

Have you ever been tagged on social media, by someone you don’t know? What do you suppose the poster’s intent was in tagging you?

A member of the Salesforce community, who has 13k Linkedin followers 😮, had thoughts on the latter scenario.

And those who read those thoughts had their own thoughts.

What are your thoughts on all the thoughts?

Update - the post was deleted. Summary of the post and comments-

The “influencer” OP explained their displeasure of being tagged by randos. The ensuing commenters - fellow influencers and other SF professionals - took both sides of the discussion.

TAKEAWAY

Never attribute to malice, that which can be explained by neglect, ignorance, or incompetence.

For these 2 examples, if you read the posts and comments through the lens of Hanlon’s Razor, you can see-

🙌 Some effectively applied Hanlon’s Razor.

👀 Some did not.

And look, you can’t be on your A-game every second of every minute of every hour of….sometimes we make a bad decision and then live with the consequences (or delete the post 🤷).

That is the value of having razors and tools and techniques - to help you consistently and efficiently make quality decisions 🙂.
