THE CORE SKILLS
CORE SALESFORCE ADVANTAGES
Most of you have at least 2 of core skills. If you have all 4, please hit reply to this email, we should chat 😉.
🧑💻 Salesforce
Surprise! Being incredible at Salesforce is an advantage!
On to the juicy stuff 👇
🤝 Client/Stakeholder Relationship
Relationships are built on trust. Trust is earned over time, via reliability and making someone’s life easier or making them look good.
Personality, charisma, intro/extrovert - doesn’t matter. Anyone has the ability to earn trust by showing up every day and delivering.
The Salesforce role where you clock-in, grind out admin work, and then clock-out, is ultra rare. Most Salesforce roles require engagement with people - stakeholders, clients, executives, and project teams - and the ability to build relationships with these people is critical to your success 💯.
🤹 Project Management
Salesforce professionals have full plates. Project managers are excellent at categorizing, sorting, bucket-izing, and organizing those plates into bite-sized morsels.
Add the fact that Salesforce is enterprise software that lives in a web of complexity, and the ability to manage projects is right up there with the ability to do Salesforce things!
🕵️ Business Analysis
Not all business analysts are amazing Salesforce professionals but all amazing Salesforce professionals are business analysts.
Perhaps not by training, but they’ve developed the ability to intake, identify, understand, and analyze business process.
Keepin it real at the ChaCha - BUSINESS ANALYSTS ARE THE REAL MVPs 🙌!
THE VENN DIAGRAM
Your AdvantageS
Q: How many circles is a Venn diagram?
A: More than one
Just like your Salesforce advantages - you have more than one! And you are combining them. Here’s what we mean-
You’re good at Salesforce.
You’re also good at business analysis.
Your Salesforce advantage is that you can analyze business process and then overlay a Salesforce solution on top of the business process 😍.
Compared to someone who is only good at Salesforce - they will struggle to synthesize the business process that their Flow is meant to automate.
Or the business analyst who can breakdown and flowchart the process, but can’t build a Flow 😢.
It is the combination and combining of your multiple advantages that is giving you your unique and powerful SALESFORCE ADVANTAGE 🦸!
OTHER ADVANTAGES
ALL THE SALESFORCE ADVANTAGES!!!
Did you read those core advantages and feel like a fish outta water?
Don’t worry, because when you’re responsible for the success of enterprise SaaS, it’s like Catan - there are many ways to win 🙌!
Which of these resonates with you-
🏢 Industry
Industry knowledge is arguably more important than technology knowledge. Just ask the Big-4 where it’d be exceptional to get a sniff from their recruiters without a healthy background in their client’s industry.
🕸️ Integrations
It’s common for Salesforce to be the hub for all business applications in a company’s technology stack. A Salesforce professional who deeply understands integrations strategy, technology, and implementation is worth their weight in rhodium.
⚠️ Risk Management
Enterprise = complexity.
Complexity = risk.
Some of y’all’s risk antennae are in constant overdrive.
You’re always pointing out what can go wrong, what the worst case scenario is, or seem succumbed to doom.
But time proves everything out and your perceived storminess was actually incredible foresight.
aka Risk Management!
🗣️ Communications
Ahh, to have the gift of gab.
You may be the Salesforce professional who hates sales, even though you’re born with all the sales tools - extroversion, charisma, and confidence.
Every team needs an all-star communicator, whether it’s to be client-facing, to run the daily team meetings, or just to have that warm blanket in the slack channel.
🏢 Manager, People Leader
Being a manager requires being responsible for people. People have emotions, inclinations, opinions, bad days, bad years, and so on .
If you are an effective leader of people, and you have the patience to do it, you will always have a job. It’s really hard to do, and props to you if you’re doing it effectively 🫡.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Takeaway
Takeaway these 3 things-
✅ Identify your advantages. YES, plural!
✅ Understand how you’re combining them, creating your unique advantage. Picture it in a Venn diagram.
✅ Lean into center area of your Venn diagram of advantages. Exploit it!
