And What They're Doing With It
Good morning, Salesforce Nerds! We ended the Earnings Call article with a lil teaser.
Initiating this train of thought was Marc’s comments where he mentioned 2 scenarios that were not super impressive on their own.
But, when you extrapolate them…..

You Won't Believe What Salesforce Knows
Today we will discuss-
💃 What Is It? 🕺
💃 Why Should You Care? 🕺
MARC SAYS
…and that when I walk in the (Disney) park, I'm expecting The Mandalorian to come up to me and say, "Hey, what did you think of the episode last night?" It hasn't happened yet. I think we're all kind of on the cusp of delivering that full customer 360 for Disney.
What do you make of this comment?
🤔
How about this one ⬇️
…with Toyota, we have the ability to take our vision to a whole other level, making this connected car experience really go one step higher, connecting all the Toyota cars directly to our Data Cloud and the Data Cloud then having the ability to proactively deliver the customer information and interactivity as it hits different thresholds. These are the opportunities that I see going forward. It's about productivity. It's about automation.
WHAT IS IT?
It’s 2025. You’re driving to the store in your 2023 Toyota Land Cruiser, which is now almost 2 years old and ready for its 30,000 mile service 🛠.
You know it’s ready because you get a text 💬…and an email 📧…and a phone call 📞.
Then you get another text, with a 15%-off coupon 🤑.
And not from the dealership that you bought the Land Cruiser from, but the dealership closest to your office, which you go to more often 👀.
The coupon includes an undercarriage washing service for “that trip you took to Moab during the muddy season.”
And the final note in the message?
“We have the Land Cruiser toys in stock at our Service Center. We reserved one for your son, who was heartbroken 💔 when we were out of stock at your last visit. We apologize again for that, and this one is on the house 😉. See you soon 🙂.”
🤯
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Salesforce has all the pieces in place to make the above a reality.
👉 Customer 360
👉 Data Cloud
👉 AI
Now, combine these with the legacy pieces-
✅ Consumer sale and service data (as granular as gps breadcrumbs, like the Land Cruiser trip to Moab?)
✅ Consumers who want a personalized experience (who doesn’t want to feel special 🤩?!)
✅ Customers who want delight their consumers.
And what do you get?
You get your Land Cruiser story ❤️.
How does this future state impact Salesforce professionals?
Let’s look at 3 components, and how those relate to you-
⚡️ Infrastructure
The infrastructure for the Land Cruiser story to come to fruition already exists. Cars that capture data, and send it back to a suite of apps that can glean insights, and then generate personalized marketing and sales content to the consumer 🤯.
However….
As an example - Flows don’t create themselves. And the underlying Apex is generated only when the Flow UI is configured by the Salesforce user.
Same with this Land Cruiser story. A solution that does all these things is going to need configuration 💯.
⚡️ Industry
Salesforce professionals who know the industry will be more effective, regardless of Data Cloud, AI, and Customer 360.
What and how you market and sell to a car owner is not going to be the same for a Disneyland visitor.
⚡️ Business Process
Business analyst skills are still relevant in the future!
In fact, to achieve the Land Cruiser story, you will need a small army of BAs to do gap analysis, map processes, and write up business requirements…and A LOT of field mapping (Data Cloud will collect a lot of data points, and their relationship with CRM data is not always obvious).
And any changes to the Land Cruiser story? You guessed it, more business analysis 🫡.
