LET’S REVIEW!
So what did you think of each response? Here is a perspective-
v1
This is a direct answer to the question; what could the stakeholder not like about it?
Would this response make you feel warm & fuzzy?
🤔
v2
Aight, aight! This is some good visibility!
It shows what’s recently been completed, what you’re currently working on, and what you have left to do.
Classic over-delivering 🙌!
A big step up on the warm & fuzzy scale 📈.
v3
Ohhhh pretty colors 🌈 !
This is an especially effective format for project managers and tech people; they’ll copy paste it and send to their manager (and take the credit 🙃 ).
All that formatting was a lot of clicks, and you’re a busy person. Is this pretty format worth the effort?
And what if you’re stakeholders ask for a lot of status updates?
Lots of warm & fuzzy in this format, but don’t spread yourself too thin 🫡.
AND…3 MORE TIPS!
Rapid fire 🔥
Some of you take great notes. So great, that you’re able to copy-paste status updates from your notes into responses.
Know your audience to better understand the level of detail required to generate warm & fuzzies 😉.
Your stakeholder most likely already has a 40hr+/week job. Even if your stakeholder is able to access statuses themselves, via Jira or project notes, they’ll still ask you to serve it them on a plate….we’re just gonna leave this here…
